Updating the Trim Part 2

I’ve been seriously slacking with the trim project. As they say..life happens, and its really been getting in the way of the final phase of our trim update.  The past week has been hectic with work and other commitments and painting got put on the wayy back burner.  But not to worry (too much at least!) We got all the doorways sanded and primed which is already a vast improvement – so Im really excited to get em all painted along with the walls this weekend!

Here’s how we’re looking with the doorways fully sanded:

Doorways All Primed:

I picked two lovely shades of white for the walls and for the trim. Both colors are by Glidden – the trim will be crisp linen white, and the walls french lace.  I’m OK with the fact that our trim wont “pop” against the wall color, especially since the doorways back there don’t boast any fancy or ornate trim. I think the shades of white are going to make the back  hallway feel light and airy(totally opposite from before), and really bring some new life to our old house.  Here’s hoping everything gets painted this weekend!

Papering the Walls Yellow

I’ve been contemplating wallpapering since we moved in last summer….and I think I finally reached a decision. As soon as we get the trim project  wrapped up, I’m going to take the leap into the world of wallpaper. I’m thinking starting small is the way to go…..by wallpapering one accent wall in our master bedroom. The wall behind our bed is the perfect spot since it’s broken up by one window that let’s in tons of natural light, and will be a great backdrop as soon as you walk in the door!  In the mean time – here are some of my favorites.

This limey yellow & khaki damask print  is probably my favorite. It would go beautifully with our airy white curtains and otherwise simple bedding & accents. And surprisingly, its from Home Depot! Who woulda guessed! At $45 per roll It’s rather affordable for the small wall we will be papering.  Can’t wait to get the ball rolling on this one.
