Vintage Bar Basket

I stumbled upon this vintage chicken wire basket this past weekend foraging at the antiques mall.  Let me just tell you, this baby stopped me in my tracks! I scooped it up and bought it with out a second though.  I didn’t really have a spot in mind for it with I brought it home – but once it was in the house I instantly knew it belonged with the bar.

The basket adds a small element of surprise to the bar (especially below the more modern pottery barn stemware racks) and its just oh so sweet and country chic!

It’s Ranunculus Season

I love Ranunculus.  It’s like a beautiful cross between a peony and a garden rose, but more whimsical with their curvy stems that seem as though their searching for the sunshine.  When I start seeing them at the flower shops I know we’re that much closer to spring which get’s me pretty excited.

I picked this happy yellow bunch up at the florist on my way home from work Friday afternoon, and after stopping at my grocery store, saw that they had them for sale at 3 bunches for $12.00, while I paid  $10 dollars for just one bunch at the florist. Needles to say  I indulged and picked up a few more.

I love the mix of the deep fuchsia and the dusty pink, I think it makes the bunch feel more lux. I was happy to find them on the cheap – I’ll definately be swinging by stop and shop to buy more of these while they are in season.  (plus the splash of pink really added a little something to the mini make over I gave our bedroom this weekend. I’ll be sharing that soon as soon as we get some sunshine to take a few decent pictures!)

Hope everyone had a great weekend  – and if your in the Northeast – I hope your surviving this rain!

Back in Action

I’ve been on an accidental blogging and home project hiatus as life took over the past several days.  I had two very close friends in town this past weekend which was such a blast, but to be quite honest I’m still recovering from all the fun, and all that pesky rain.  Luckily all that rain seems to have lead the way for some absolutely gorgeous March weather! Mid 60′s all week has me wearing my favorite flip flops and dreaming up a Spring time gardening plan for the front yard!

All I know is I’ll definitely be planting some Hydrangea bushes…. and lots of them. I want to carry around a big old galvanized tin bucket in the Summer time, glass of lemonade in tow, snipping flowers and throwing them in my bucket to bring on inside the house. But in the mean time I’ll be getting my Hydrangeas from the Florist just like everybody else!

My wonderful florist tossed in a few extra stems on the house for me the other day.I love seeing my favorite yellow pitcher all filled up.

Does anyone else remember this room from Country living about a year ago? It was a beautiful garden house surrounded by peach trees and gorgeous flowers. It was so girly and serene, and perfect!

I would die to have this little outdoor room. It seems like the perfect getaway to unwind, sip a glass of cold iced tea and read a book.

I cant wait for Spring to actually set in, lucky for us the official first day is coming right up! This Sunday, March 21st Marks the start of the new season. Hope everyone get’s to enjoy some sunshine….I think all of us here on the east coast deserve some sunny, dry weather for  change!

Being Cute isn’t Easy

Bowser had a rough day today…we had to take him to the vet to be neutered, six months old and he’s already had major surgery!  He’s home and resting now but he’s so tired and groggy. All he wants to do is sleep in his cozy bed, and I don’t blame him!

Our vet told us he should be back to his usual self with in a few days, but no doggie play dates or strenuous activity for about a week, poor little guy.  In the mean time, he’s going to get extra snuggles and kisses from his mom to make up for it!

March Showers

It feels like it’s been raining forever here in Boston add that to the fact that next month is April- the month most infamous for its rain fall – leads me to believe I should probably start building an Ark.  At the very least, this rain might be more tolerable if  I had adorable rain gear!

I wouldn’t mind the occasional rain shower if I had these J.Crew Wellies

And this Canary Yellow trench…

All the stores have  Spring clothes out right now, if only mother nature would get the memo that Winter needs to be over!

New Look, Same Stuff

I’m excited to announce Pitcher & the Pearl has a brand new look that I’m super excited about!  My good freind Taz, of  Designs by Taz,  whipped up this adorable new logo for me…. she is seriously talented so anyone looking for  custom logo or branding-she’s definitely your gal.

Hope everyone loves the new look as much as I do!

Slipcovers Save the Day

I finally got around to getting the slipcovers and new pillows on the couches this weekend, and I have to say, they made a huge difference! The update from navy pinstripe to creamy white really brightened up the space and made it feel so much larger.  As an added bonus our espresso stained coffee table really stands out now that it’s not being drowned out by all the dark fabric.

Here’s a before shot of our living room pre-slipcovers:

Not only was the navy making things really dark – you can see the back cushions were really sagging… we were basically being attacked by the couch every time we tried to sit on it! (problem solved by new fluffy pillows)

Now for the After:

I love how everything flows together now and I really think this was a quick fix that will allow us to live with our older couches until we can afford to invest in the type of sofa we’re really looking for. (White Pottery Barn sectional anyone?) The only downside is that I think everything might be feeling a little too white! I’m starting to think we might need some patterned curtains in here pretty soon.  Next up is making some covers for the new pillows. I just ordered some matching fabric online today, so hopefully it gets here asap!
